Maki is highly educated, growing up with the best tutors and teachers money could buy. She discovered her passion at a young age and continued practicing until she was able to compose her own music. She was always acutely aware, however, of her eventual time to give up music to walk the path laid for her by her parents. As a result she eventually began drifting away from music in favor of studying as hard as she can. This is the direct cause for her initial hesitation to join [[Honoka Kosaka|Honoka Kousaka]]'s School Idol group. Maki continues on to describe (somewhat proudly) how she cleans the chimney for Santa, and how he never misses her house. [[Nico]] attempts to disillusion her, but is held back by other members who did not want to ruin Maki's belief.

Maki was initially portrayed as a loner in the first few episodes, and spent her time alone in the music room. Her standoffishness can be attributed to her tsundere qualities in which although she may want to get close to others, she cannot admit that and refuses, as best she can, to show it. Throughout the series, Maki opens up more and more, but elements of her solitary life before µ's crop up from time to time with her awkwardness and inability to properly admit her investment in their friendship.

Maki is also quite stubborn. This was shown when she was invited to play at the beach, as she was withdrawn from the group and not interested in playing with them.

Although Maki is not conceited nor-stuck up, there are moments where her pride combined with her privileged and sheltered upbringing with few other friends lead Maki to unintentionally act insensitively or arrogantly. Despite this, µ's understands that Maki has no such intentions, and usually any questionable interaction with Maki is usually because of her tsundere side preventing her from speaking how she really feels.

Her personality often clashes with Nico Yazawa, such as when she called Nico stubborn during [[Season 2 Episode 4]]. [[Rin]], however, tells her "You're one to talk", implying that Maki is stubborn as well.

Maki is skilled at playing the piano, and is the composer and vocal coach of µ's. Her other hobbies are photography and stargazing. Her special skill is achieving full marks on tests. She also became the Idol Research Club's vice president after the third years graduated.

Maki has a slim figure. She has semi-long red hair that reaches her shoulders and purple eyes.

She is the only member of μ's with upturned (sharp) eyes, giving her a more elegant and beautiful vibe rather than a cute one.

In the 5th general election, Maki impressively won her first-ever center position (also the first for any of the μ's first-year members).

Subsequently, on November 27, 2013, the 6th single "Music S.T.A.R.T!!" was released. Within just five days of release, the single sold about 37,000 copies, reaching #2 on the Oricon daily chart and #4 on the weekly chart. It truly served as a milestone connecting the first and second seasons of the anime.

At the start of the project, she was characterized as a narcissist with an overly self-conscious personality.

She could also be described as a classic "ojou-sama" (young lady from a wealthy family) character.

Although she seems like she would take on the role of the straight man (tsukkomi) in jokes (and probably wants to), she always ends up being the one who gets teased.

In particular, she often gets caught up in Nico's schemes, who frequently plays the role of the strategist.

Umi once praised her for being very caring (from Dengeki G's Magazine, November 2011 issue).

In the drama part "Seiya no Onna no Ko-tachi" included with the 2nd single [[Snow halation (single)|Snow halation]], her line "Dessho~!" became a favorite among both the cast and fans, and is considered one of Maki's signature quotes.

In the PV for [[Natsuiro Egao de 1,2,Jump!]], while everyone else is playing in the ocean or enjoying themselves with a watermelon-splitting game on the beach, Maki alone is seen lounging on a beach chair, wearing sunglasses and relaxing.

However, at the lily white single release event where the "Natsuiro..." PV was shown in advance, the audience was reportedly filled with laughter.

Her desired medical field is neurosurgery. The reason she decided to become an idol was to create memories. She also did ballet when she was younger. It seems that she sometimes felt stifled by days spent only studying.

Her hobbies are photography and stargazing. Her special skill is getting perfect scores on tests. Her strengths are being a strategist and having courage. Her charm point is her "intelligent beauty."

She excels at studying, but is apparently quite poor at sports.

Compared to the original settings above, there were major changes: Maki became a serious but somewhat sarcastic tsundere, making her a completely different person from her original version.

In episode 5 of season 2, she even says a line that long-time Love Live! fans might find ironic: "Unless you're really full of yourself, don't most people think others are cuter than themselves?"

She probably has the most pronounced differences between her character in various media adaptations.

As a result, in the game "School Idol Festival," her card lines and side stories retain her original, overly self-conscious narcissist personality, but in the main story she takes on the anime's tsundere character, leading to some inconsistencies in her portrayal.

She firmly rejects things she dislikes, and if she doesn't agree with something, she’s quick to get angry, exclaiming, "Haa!?"

Her parents are depicted as classic "education mom and dad" types, with her mother especially disdaining popular culture—Maki even goes as far as calling her mother a "vulgarian." This portrayal is quite different from the anime version.

They live in and run their family's restaurant where they sell New Years Whale Soup and other specialty Hokkaido dishes. She often has trouble socializing, only really being close with her sister. She is noted later in the anime as saying she has a hard time talking to others. As such, she has some difficulty making friends preferring to keep her distance from her peers.

Leah is first seen in Season 1 Episode 7 practicing at [[wikipedia:Kanda_Shrine|Kanda-jinja]] alongside her sister for their performance in the same Tokyo event that Aqours were invited to. Her relationship with the main cast is set immediately on an antagonistic course as she greets the group by performing an aerial somersault over [[Ruby Kurosawa]], [[Hanamaru Kunikida]], and [[Yoshiko Tsushima]] before walking off without a word. She would later encounter Aqours again, silently standing by Sarah backstage at the Tokyo event.

Together Saint Snow takes the stage and performs the same song they had earlier been practicing at Kanda-jinja, [[SELF CONTROL!!]] This performance garners rapturous applause from the audience, as well as leaves [[Chika Takami]] standing speechless backstage. Despite this reaction, however, their performance was not good enough for them to win, only garnering enough votes to achieve 9th place overall. This result appears to weigh heavily on Leah as tears well in her eyes when encountering Aqours after the event.

Saint Snow would go on to make it through the Love Live! qualifying round. Soon after this, Leah and Sarah would meet up with Aqours again near the end of Season 1 in Episode 12. They discuss what it means to be School Idols and what made [[μ's]] and [[A-RISE]] as great as they were. Following this, Saint Snow go along with Aqours to view the announcement of Championship tournament bracket at the Akiba Dome.

== Personality ==
Leah's difficulty in socializing with others manifests as a cold, stoic front to most people. She builds social walls and dedicates herself wholly to Saint Snow. Her dedication to win the Love Live eventually pushes her to burn out and for Saint Snow to lose the competition, something she shoulders the responsibility of herself. Even after Saint Snow ends and she attempts to form a new group among her peers she struggles with letting her guard down eventually leading her new group to disband.

One effect of her protective demeanor is her tendency to snap at others over comments she finds tiring or pointless, at one point asking if Chika was an idiot directly to her face.

Despite this, Leah is a deeply caring person. Those that she chooses to let her guard down around, such as her sister Sarah and later Ruby, get to see a side of her not often seen. She goes the distance for those she cares about, sometimes to her own detriment as seen in their aforementioned loss in the Love Live tournament. Consequently she is deeply protective of those she trusts, even declaring Sara is a better older sister than [[Dia Kurosawa]].

Leah dedicates herself wholly to Saint Snow until her sisters graduation at the end of Season 2. Following this she attempts to start her own Idol Club at Seisen Girls' Academy, though she struggles at first to do so.

It can be inferred Leah is also very athletic and potentially a skilled gymnast given her ability to launch herself over Aqours with ease in Season 1 episode 7.

Leah is slightly shorter in stature than most of her contemporaries in Love Live! Sunshine!! Her hair is a deep Mauve color worn in high pigtails tied up using thin white ribbons. Her eyes are a deep crimson color that are usually held in an intense glare.

Leah, alongside her older sister [[Sarah Kazuno]], are the two members of [[Saint Snow]] until their disbandment in Season 2 Episode 9. Togethery they serve as the primary rival to [[Aqours]] for much of the anime. She has an antagonistic relationship with much of the main cast until Saint Snows loss in Season 2 Episode 8. Her image color is white.

== Background ==
Leah lives in [[wikipedia:Hakodate|Hakodate, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan]] alongside her older sister Sarah Kazuno. They live in and run their family's restaurant where they sell New Years Whale Soup and other specialty Hokkaido dishes. She often has trouble socializing, only really being close with her sister. She is noted later in the anime as saying she has a hard time talking to others. As such, she has some difficulty making friends preferring to keep her distance from her peers.

Leah is first seen in Season 1 Episode 7 practicing at [[wikipedia:Kanda_Shrine|Kanda-jinja]] alongside her sister for their performance in the same Tokyo event that Aqours were invited to. Her relationship with the main cast is set immediately on an antagonistic course as she greets the group by performing an aerial somersault over [[Ruby Kurosawa]], [[Hanamaru Kunikida]], and [[Yoshiko Tsushima]] before walking off without a word. She would later encounter Aqours again, silently standing by Sarah backstage at the Tokyo event.

Together Saint Snow takes the stage and performs the same song they had earlier been practicing at Kanda-jinja, [[SELF CONTROL!!]] This performance garners rapturous applause from the audience, as well as leaves [[Chika Takami]] standing speechless backstage. Despite this reaction, however, their performance was not good enough for them to win, only garnering enough votes to achieve 9th place overall. This result appears to weigh heavily on Leah as tears well in her eyes when encountering Aqours after the event.

Saint Snow would go on to make it through the Love Live! qualifying round. Soon after this, Leah and Sarah would meet up with Aqours again near the end of Season 1 in Episode 12. They discuss what it means to be School Idols and what made [[μ's]] and [[A-RISE]] as great as they were. Following this, Saint Snow go along with Aqours to view the announcement of Championship tournament bracket at the Akiba Dome.

== Personality ==
Leah's difficulty in socializing with others manifests as a cold, stoic front to most people. She builds social walls and dedicates herself wholly to Saint Snow. Her dedication to win the Love Live eventually pushes her to burn out and for Saint Snow to lose the competition, something she shoulders the responsibility of herself. Even after Saint Snow ends and she attempts to form a new group among her peers she struggles with letting her guard down eventually leading her new group to disband.

One effect of her protective demeanor is her tendency to snap at others over comments she finds tiring or pointless, at one point asking if Chika was an idiot directly to her face.

Despite this, Leah is a deeply caring person. Those that she chooses to let her guard down around, such as her sister Sarah and later Ruby, get to see a side of her not often seen. She goes the distance for those she cares about, sometimes to her own detriment as seen in their aforementioned loss in the Love Live tournament. Consequently she is deeply protective of those she trusts, even declaring Sara is a better older sister than [[Dia Kurosawa]].

Leah dedicates herself wholly to Saint Snow until her sisters graduation at the end of Season 2. Following this she attempts to start her own Idol Club at Seisen Girls' Academy, though she struggles at first to do so.

It can be inferred Leah is also very athletic and potentially a skilled gymnast given her ability to launch herself over Aqours with ease in Season 1 episode 7.

Leah is slightly shorter in stature than most of her contemporaries in Love Live! Sunshine!! Her hair is a deep Mauve color worn in high pigtails tied up using thin white ribbons. Her eyes are a deep crimson color that are usually held in an intense glare.

Leah's difficulty in socializing with others manifests as a cold, stoic front to most people. She builds social walls and dedicates herself wholly to Saint Snow. Her dedication to win the Love Live eventually pushes her to burn out and for Saint Snow to lose the competition, something she shoulders the responsibility of herself. Even after Saint Snow ends and she attempts to form a new group among her peers she struggles with letting her guard down eventually leading her new group to disband.

One effect of her protective demeanor is her tendency to snap at others over comments she finds tiring or pointless, at one point asking if Chika was an idiot directly to her face.

Despite this, Leah is a deeply caring person. Those that she chooses to let her guard down around, such as her sister Sarah and later Ruby, get to see a side of her not often seen. She goes the distance for those she cares about, sometimes to her own detriment as seen in their aforementioned loss in the Love Live tournament. Aqua discovered Love Live from the Snow Halation memes that were everywhere in the late 2010s. She started watching as a bit of irony, expecting something simple and cringe. Dia, along with [[Kanan Matsuura]] and [[Mari Ohara]], are the original three members [[Aqours]] before their original disbanding. She is now a member of the sub-unit [[AZALEA]]. She is the older sister of [[Ruby Kurosawa]]. Her image color is red.

== Background ==
Dia is a third-year student at Uranohoshi Girls' High School in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. At the start of Season 1 she is serving as the President of the Student Council. She shares a strong bond with her younger sister Ruby Kurosawa, often acting fiercely defensive of her. The Kurosawa family is an old and respected one in the area. The family is involved in the management of the local fishing industry. They also own a number of other companies including real estate, entertainment, human resources and restaurant management.<ref>Love Live! Sunshine!! Dia has been very close friends with both Kanan Matsuura and Mari Ohara since they were all children, eventually growing up to be the original founding members of Aqours during their first year at Uranohoshi. Unfortunately, Mari suffered an ankle injury just before they were due to perform in Tokyo, leading to Kanan and Dia to decide to end their School Idol activities.<ref>Love Live! Sunshine!! - E9 - Young Dreamer</ref> This experience caused her to abandon her interest in School Idols despite the shared passion she had with her sister Ruby.

Later during her Student Council Presidency Dia stonewalls [[Chika Takami]]'s efforts to start a new School Idol Club at Uranohoshi. She cites Chika's inexperience, perceived incompetence, and lack of knowledge in the realm of School Idols as a reason, as well as her lack of interested students to found the club with her. However, Dia's residual trauma from her First Year experience was the driving force behind her attempts to prevent Chika's idol club from forming. Despite this, she would later go on to join Chika's reformed Aqours in Season 1, Episode 9.
