Ruby lives in a rural home in [[Uchiura]] with her parents and sister Dia. The Kurosawa family is a relatively well known and powerful family in the region, responsible for the operation of many local businesses.

From a young age, Ruby had an interest in school idols. This was in part due to her sister's similar interest in them. Ruby and her sister were both fans of the group [[μ's]] until Dia mysteriously lost interest. Ruby continued to follow idols, but kept it to herself. She met [[Hanamaru Kunikida]] in middle school while reading idol magazines in the school library. The two very quickly became close friends.

Shortly after graduating middle school and enrolling at Uranohoshi, Ruby meets [[Chika Takami]] and [[You Watanabe]]. After seeing the duo perform alongside [[Riko Sakurauchi]], she's inspired to join their group. Despite fearing her sister's disapproval, Ruby takes a leap of faith and earns Dia's approval. After officially joining Aqours, Ruby invites Hanamaru to join alongside her, positive that they share a mutual adoration of school idols.

Ruby is very shy and timid, which makes it hard for her to get along with other people. She has a tendency to utter or scream "Pigii!!!" when she doesn't like something; in the event she screams, [[:File:LLSS_S1Ep1_101.png|her face will turn red as she does so]]. She has never talked to any males besides her father before, so she has always been bad at dealing with the male gender. Although she is fearful and easily upset, she does has a tough interior forged by her role as the daughter of a rich, well-known family.

Ruby lives in a rural home in [[Uchiura]] with her parents and sister Dia. The Kurosawa family is a relatively well known and powerful family in the region, responsible for the operation of many local businesses. The Kurosawa family also owns a number of companies including real estate, entertainment, human resources and restaurant management.

From a young age, Ruby had an interest in school idols. This was in part due to her sister's similar interest in them. Ruby and her sister were both fans of the group [[μ's]] until Dia mysteriously lost interest. Ruby continued to follow idols, but kept it to herself. She met [[Hanamaru Kunikida]] in middle school while reading idol magazines in the school library. The two very quickly became close friends.

Shortly after graduating middle school and enrolling at Uranohoshi, Ruby meets [[Chika Takami]] and [[You Watanabe]]. After seeing the duo perform alongside [[Riko Sakurauchi]], she's inspired to join their group. Despite fearing her sister's disapproval, Ruby takes a leap of faith and earns Dia's approval. == Background ==
Yoshiko lives in the urban core of Numazu with her family. When she was very young, she attended a kindergarten. It was here that she met [[Hanamaru Kunikida]], and the two formed a sort of early friendship.

While attending kindergarten, Yoshiko developed a feeling that she was somehow different from her peers. This, in addition to her habitual bad fortune, led her to believe that she was a "fallen angel". It was at this time that she began preferring to go by the name of "Yohane". She developed an interest in magic and the occult. This persisted throughout middle school and made Yoshiko feel even further ostracized from her peers.

At the beginning of the anime, Yoshiko attends her first day at Uranohoshi with the intention of abandoning her fallen angel persona. After continuously relapsing into "Yohane", she attempts to avoid attending school.

After being discovered by Hanamaru, Yoshiko is invited to join Aqours by the group's leader [[Chika Takami]]. Despite some insecurities she experiences over her worthiness as an idol, she is accepted and welcomed by Chika and the other members. Yoshiko eventually commits to being a permanent member of the group at the end of [["Yohane Descends"]].

== Personality ==
Yoshiko's personality can differ depending on whether or not she is performing her "Yohane" persona or not. As "Yohane", Yoshiko acts very theatrical and menacing. She is known to break into monologue or cause a large public scene. Yoshiko is very irritated when called by her real name, and will correct anyone who doesn't address her as such (something that becomes a running gag in the anime). As "Yohane", Yoshiko refers to her fans and friends alike as "little demons". In her free time, Yoshiko live streams online as "Yohane" in an attempt to grow and "convert" a legion of "little demons".

When not performing as "Yohane", Yoshiko can be rather reserved and self-conscious. As a young child, Yoshiko developed her persona as a way to differentiate herself and make herself feel unique. As she grows older, she loses a desire to be unique and begins to wonder if life would be better as a "normal" girl. She is aware of how her fallen angel persona scares people away from her, and holds some desire to live a "normal" life. It is only after she is accepted by Aqours that Yoshiko decides it's okay for her to continue to embrace and continue a life as "Yohane".

Yoshiko is noted as having incredibly bad luck, something she says is a result of her status as a fallen angel. In her character introduction, it is described that "whenever she goes on a field trip, rain is bound to follow. Whenever the snow falls, she always slips on it. She's never won anything in the lucky grab at the convenience store. Despite her sometimes loud and performative nature, Yoshiko is kind and caring to her friends. She feels indebted to her Aqours colleagues for their embrace of her weirdness. During serious moments, such as during "[[The Time Left]]", Yoshiko is capable of putting her fallen angel act aside and approaching situations with genuine compassion.

In the anime, Yoshiko is shown to practice fortune telling (to mixed results). She is also depicted in official art as playing video games, and live streaming. In [[Love Live! School Idol Festival ALLSTARS]], Yoshiko begins uploading video game footage online as a sort of "Lets Play" youtuber. Yoshiko is responsible for video editing in Aqours, and is also shown helping with costume design.

Yoshiko Tsushima has long, dark blue hair usually styled in a side bun on the left of her head. Her eyes are a striking deep magenta. Outside of school, she typical wears stylish, often dark colored, gothic outfits. Yoshiko has a slender build and carries herself with a dramatic, confident posture.

Yoshiko has a total of four solo songs to date (as Yoshiko Tsushima, as opposed to "Yohane" from [[Yohane the Parhelion -SUNSHINE in the MIRROR-]] ). Despite never winning an official Aqours center vote, Yoshiko did win a popularity poll taken for the Love Live! Sunshine x Shadowverse collaboration. As a result, Yoshiko was selected to be the official image girl of the campaign, and earned center privileges in [["Deep Resonance"]].

== Background ==

Riko attended Otonokizaka High School in Tokyo, studying music. She had learnt to play the piano from an early age, but hit a snag in her musical career during her time at Otonokizaka. Finding herself unable to "hear the music" during a piano recital, her family relocated to Uchiura for a change of scenery.

It is in Uchiura that Riko meets [[Chika Takami]] and [[You Watanabe]] (the former of which is her neighbour). Chika invites Riko to join their school idol club, requiring the skills of a musician to help them compose songs. Although initially hesitant, Riko eventually agrees what would eventually become Aqours, believing it to be a potential pathway back into music.

Riko is a kind, soft-spoken girl who is well mannered and sweet-natured. She is quite modest and unwilling to flaunt her talents, especially in music. Due to her prior struggles with performing, she's initially quite hesitant to use her talents. She only agrees to eventually help Chika and You after being inspired by their passion for school idol activities and the [[μ’s]] song, [[Yume no Tobira]].

Despite generally being quite reserved, Riko can have a quick temper and is quick to lash out at Aqours' less orderly members, like Chika and [[Yoshiko Tsushima]]. Riko, in a manner not unlike [[Dia Kurosawa]] likes to maintain order and productivity within Aqours. This often runs in contrast to Chika's more playful, energetic approach.

Riko has a fear of dogs, especially Chika's dog [[Shiitake]]. The fear is not exclusive to large dogs, as she is frightened even by much smaller dogs at various points during the show. She slowly begins to overcome this fear after helping Yoshiko care for a lost dog in [[Taking in A Dog]].

Throughout her journey with Aqours, Riko slowly learns to loosen up and acts a bit more aloof. With time, she regains her passion for composing, overcomes her fear of dogs, and acts more playful with her friends (such as accidentally engaging with Yoshiko's "fallen angel" fantasy).

You is an energetic, tomboyish and positive girl with an outlook of focusing on her goals, which can sometimes cause her to take action without thinking things over first. Her positive attitude also makes her one of the more charismatic members of the group. Since she would like to have her father's job as the captain of a ferry, she tends to salute when she says her catchphrase "Yousoro!", often in the place of "hello" and "good-bye".

You loves the friendship she has forged with Chika over the years, so she slowly grew jealous of [[Riko Sakurauchi]]'s friendship with Chika when she invites her to join Aqours. This is hinted in Season 1 Episode 10, and is expanded upon in Season 1 Episode 11 when the members of Aqours find out the group originally consisted of her and Chika, rather than Chika and Riko. After [[Mari Ohara]] confronts her on it, You expresses her feelings to her best friend, and stops being jealous of Riko.

You has a slim figure and is athletic. She has curly light greyish-brown hair that reaches her shoulders and has light blue eyes. She is most often seen in her sailor uniform with both summer and winter variants, the summer being short sleeved with a necktie and the winter being long sleeved with a bowtie. In some depictions there is also a black sailor uniform with long sleeves and a white necktie with a similar appearance to the summer uniform. While often depicted wearing glasses she can be seen wearing them in episode 11 of the first season of the anime.

== Background ==
She is a second year and a classmate of [[Chika Takami]], who is her childhood friend along with [[Kanan Matsuura]]. Her catchphrase is "Yousoro!" (ヨーソロー！ ''lit. Aye Aye!''), on which she salutes like a sailor. This is often accompanied by the phrase "Zensoku zenshin!" (全速前進！ ''Full speed ahead!''). Her live concert call and response is "[Location or Anata] ni Mukatte, Zensoku Zenshin..."->"Yousoro!"->"Kara no"->"Keirei!".

Her father captains a ferry and she would like to have his job someday. While her father is not shown in the original TV series he is mentioned often by You. There was a illustration of her father for the series ''[[Genjitsu no Yohane -SUNSHINE in the MIRROR-]],'' in which it is shown that he has short light greyish-brown hair and blue eyes very similar to You.

In the first episode, on a trip to Tokyo with Chika, the two learned about school idols and the Love Live! tournament after seeing a screen with school idols at the Akiba Dome, including µ's. After Chika becomes fascinated with the idea of school idols, You follows her into opening a school idol club of their own at their high school. Chika and You being the founding members of Aqours (the second rendition), go on to recruit the rest of the seven members throughout the series.

Within the school idol club she is apart of the sub-units CYaRon! and YYY, CYaRon consists of You, Chika, and [[Ruby Kurosawa]]. Their unit color is orange, and their fans are called "CYaRotomo" (しゃろとも ''Sharotomo''). == Personality ==
You is an energetic, tomboyish and positive girl with an outlook of focusing on her goals, which can sometimes cause her to take action without thinking things over first. Her positive attitude also makes her one of the more charismatic members of the group. Since she would like to have her father's job as the captain of a ferry, she tends to salute when she says her catchphrase "Yousoro!", often in the place of "hello" and "good-bye".

You loves the friendship she has forged with Chika over the years, so she slowly grew jealous of [[Riko Sakurauchi]]'s friendship with Chika when she invites her to join Aqours. This is hinted in Season 1 Episode 10, and is expanded upon in Season 1 Episode 11 when the members of Aqours find out the group originally consisted of her and Chika, rather than Chika and Riko. After [[Mari Ohara]] confronts her on it, You expresses her feelings to her best friend, and stops being jealous of Riko.

Due to her upbringing, her daily routine includes weight training and running. You is shown to have many talents: one of them is high diving, and she is good enough at it to qualify for the national team. She can also intuitively forecast the weather. She is also a very good chef, able to cook and turn Yoshiko Tsushima's and Mari's prepared dishes into curry as seen in Season 1 Episode 10. She loves the uniforms of uniformed occupations, which is why she acts as Aqours' wardrobe supervisor alongside Ruby Kurosawa, able to illustrate concept art of idol costumes and make them with no prior experience

You has a slim figure and is athletic. She has curly light greyish-brown hair that reaches her shoulders and has light blue eyes. She is most often seen in her sailor uniform with both summer and winter variants, the summer being short sleeved with a necktie and the winter being long sleeved with a bowtie. In some depictions there is also a black sailor uniform with long sleeves and a white necktie with a similar appearance to the summer uniform. While often depicted wearing glasses she can be seen wearing them in episode 11 of the first season of the anime.

You's main attire other than the Uranohoshi School Uniform, mainly consists of clothing such as shorts and hoodies along with baseball caps leaning towards her more tomboyish traits. She is also depicted in media such as Music Video's and Magazines wearing a one piece competition swimsuit as one of her main outfits that differs in appearance to the rest of the main characters due to her being in the Swimming/Diving club.

Chika is the youngest daughter of the Takami family, who owns and operates a ryokan in Uchiura. She lives with her parents, her two older sisters (Shima and Mito) and their pet dog (Shiitake). She is childhood friends with [[Kanan Matsuura]] and [[You Watanabe]]. In the anime, [[Riko Sakurauchi]] and her family moves into the house neighboring Chika's ryokan. Her mother and her sisters both attended Uranohoshi.

As the leader of Aqours, Chika is characterized by her charisma and sociability, traits that lead her to push others toward realizing their potential. Chika's unwavering optimism and resilience are central to her character. Despite setbacks, such as receiving no votes in a Tokyo competition, she remains steadfast in her belief that perseverance can transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.

At the beginning of the series, Chika perceives herself as ordinary. This is especially true when she compares herself to her more accomplished childhood friends, You and Kanan. Her perspective shifts upon witnessing a performance by μ's in Akihabara, inspiring her to believe that with determination, even someone like her can achieve greatness. This revelation motivates her to form Aqours.

As the leader of Aqours, Chika is characterized by her charisma and sociability, traits that lead her to push others toward realizing their potential. Chika's unwavering optimism and resilience are central to her character. Despite setbacks, such as receiving no votes in a Tokyo competition, she remains steadfast in her belief that perseverance can transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.

At the beginning of the series, Chika perceives herself as ordinary. This is especially true when she compares herself to her more accomplished childhood friends, You and Kanan. Her perspective shifts upon witnessing a performance by μ's in Akihabara, inspiring her to believe that with determination, even someone like her can achieve greatness. This revelation motivates her to form Aqours.

While Chika remains resilient and charismatic throughout the anime, she is tested by the challenges she faces. On a few occasions, she shows a far less cheerful side of herself. While she is endlessly optimistic, she is no less aware of the many people who rely on her and are counting on Aqours.

== Background ==
Yoshiko lives in the urban core of Numazu with her family. When she was very young, she attended a kindergarten. It was here that she met [[Hanamaru Kunikida]], and the two formed a sort of early friendship.

While attending kindergarten, Yoshiko developed a feeling that she was somehow different from her peers. This, in addition to her habitual bad fortune, led her to believe that she was a "fallen angel". It was at this time that she began preferring to go by the name of "Yohane". She developed an interest in magic and the occult. This persisted throughout middle school and made Yoshiko feel even further ostracized from her peers.

At the beginning of the anime, Yoshiko attends her first day at Uranohoshi with the intention of abandoning her fallen angel persona. After continuously relapsing into "Yohane", she attempts to avoid attending school.

After being discovered by Hanamaru, Yoshiko is invited to join Aqours by the group's leader [[Chika Takami]]. Despite some insecurities she experiences over her worthiness as an idol, she is accepted and welcomed by Chika and the other members. Yoshiko eventually commits to being a permanent member of the group at the end of [["Yohane Descends"]].

== Personality ==
Yoshiko's personality can differ depending on whether or not she is performing her "Yohane" persona or not. As "Yohane", Yoshiko acts very theatrical and menacing. She is known to break into monologue or cause a large public scene. Yoshiko is very irritated when called by her real name, and will correct anyone who doesn't address her as such (something that becomes a running gag in the anime). As "Yohane", Yoshiko refers to her fans and friends alike as "little demons". In her free time, Yoshiko live streams online as "Yohane" in an attempt to grow and "convert" a legion of "little demons".

When not performing as "Yohane", Yoshiko can be rather reserved and self-conscious. As a young child, Yoshiko developed her persona as a way to differentiate herself and make herself feel unique. As she grows older, she loses a desire to be unique and begins to wonder if life would be better as a "normal" girl. She is aware of how her fallen angel persona scares people away from her, and holds some desire to live a "normal" life. It is only after she is accepted by Aqours that Yoshiko decides it's okay for her to continue to embrace and continue a life as "Yohane".

Yoshiko is noted as having incredibly bad luck, something she says is a result of her status as a fallen angel. In her character introduction, it is described that "whenever she goes on a field trip, rain is bound to follow. Whenever the snow falls, she always slips on it. She's never won anything in the lucky grab at the convenience store. During serious moments, such as during "[[The Time Left]]", Yoshiko is capable of putting her fallen angel act aside and approaching situations with genuine compassion.
