Dia Kurosawa (黒澤ダイヤ) is one of the nine main characters in the Love Live! Sunshine!! anime. She was a third-year student and the Student Council President of Uranohoshi Girls' High School until her graduation at the end of the anime. Dia, along with Kanan Matsuura and Mari Ohara, are the original three members Aqours before their original disbanding. She is now a member of the sub-unit AZALEA alongside Kanan and Hanamaru Kunikida. She is the older sister of Ruby Kurosawa. Her image color is red.

Background

Dia is a third-year student at Uranohoshi Girls' High School in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. At the start of Season 1 she is serving as the President of the Student Council. She shares a strong bond with her younger sister Ruby Kurosawa, often acting fiercely defensive of her. The Kurosawa family is an old and respected one in the area. The family is involved in the management of the local fishing industry. They also own a number of other companies including real estate, entertainment, human resources and restaurant management.

Dia has been very close friends with both Kanan Matsuura and Mari Ohara since they were all children, eventually growing up to be the original founding members of Aqours during their first year at Uranohoshi. Unfortunately, Mari suffered an ankle injury just before they were due to perform in Tokyo, leading to Kanan and Dia to decide to end their School Idol activities. This experience caused her to abandon her interest in School Idols despite the shared passion she had with her sister Ruby.

Later during her Student Council Presidency Dia stonewalls Chika Takami's efforts to start a new School Idol Club at Uranohoshi. She cites Chika's inexperience, perceived incompetence, and lack of knowledge in the realm of School Idols as a reason, as well as her lack of interested students to found the club with her. However, Dia's residual trauma from her First Year experience was the driving force behind her attempts to prevent Chika's idol club from forming. Despite this, she would later go on to join Chika's reformed Aqours in Season 1, Episode 9.

Clubs and Hobbies

Dia is the Student Council President of Uranohoshi Girls' High School, a position she takes great pride in. On top of this, she is a member of Uranohoshi Girls' High School resident Idol group Aqours. Of course, she is also a big fan of School Idols, especially the group μ's, a love she shares with her sister.

In fitting with her personality, Dia is skilled in playing the Yamatogoto, a stringed plucked bridge zither native to Japan. She also enjoys Kitsuke, or the art of wearing Kimono.

Dia also enjoys watching movies and reading books in her free time.

Appearance

Dia has a slim, elegant figure fitting of her portrayal as a sort of Yamato Nadeshiko. She has long straight black hair reaching down to her lower back. She styles her hair with straight bangs and wears a triangular hairpin on each side of her face. Her eyes are a brilliant turquoise color, a trait she shares with Ruby. She also has a distinctive beauty mark under her right lip that she often touches when she is lying.

She most often is seen in her Uranohoshi school uniform, though she also has a wide variety of outfits such as a dark blue, potentially denim sundress.
