Toa Kurusu is one of the main characters in Love Live! School Idol Musical. She is a first year member of the Tsubaki Takizakura Girls' High School Idol Club. Her image colour is Coral Pink.[1]
Background
She enrolled in Takizakura Girls' High School and entered the Entertainment Course Idol Club because of how much she admired Anzu Takizawa.
1st years in the club tend to be background dancers, yet Toa is good enough to get more lines in songs and even get noticed by the chairwoman. She's usually chatting with the other 1st year members, giving them tips and helping them practice.
Personality
Toa is described as having a serious and fearless personality, often speaking her mind without hesitation. She sees her fellow club members as friends rather than rivals.
Although she may seem hesitant when faced with conflict at first, she always finds the strength to push through and take action in her own way.
Appearence
Toa has wavy brown hair with pink tips that she ties into a side ponytail with a hair strand. Her lively eyes are dark pink.
Etymology
- The name Toa (トア) is written in katakana, therefore it has no set meaning.
- Toa's surname Kurusu means "to come, to arrive" (来) (Kuru) and "residence, nest" (栖) (Su).
Trivia
- She has a sensitive tongue and can't handle hot food.
- Toa shares one of her stage actresses with Rena Suzuka, which is Alie Nishida. In the 2024 stage plays Alie played Toa while in 2025 she interpreted Rena.
- Due to Yuna Nakamura's health issues before the 2025 stage plays started, Alie had to reprise her role as Toa to cover for her.
- Although Toa is the only voiced first year student at Takizakura, she isn't the only 1st year member of the idol club. Before the merger with Tsubakisakuhana, where she'd be joined by fellow first-year Yukino Hojo, there were also other unnamed, unvoiced 1st year members in the club.
