Chiemi Tanaka was born on October 6 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Her common voice actress nickname is "Chemmy." She voices Rina Tennoji, one of the main characters in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.

Her call-and-response during concerts begins with "Ko-konnichiwa. Hazukashi kute, nani itte i no ka wakaranai." (lit. Ni-nice to meet you. I'm so embarrassed that I'm at a loss for words). The audience then shouts, "Se~ no.. Tenshi! Tensai! Tennouji!" (lit. Ready... Transcendent! Talented! Tennouji!). Tanaka then finishes with "...Sou kana? Demo... Rina-chan board: teretere!" (lit. Really...? But, well... Rina-chan board: blushing).

Her image color during concerts is paper white.

Other Roles

Some of Chiemi's other roles include:

Etymology

  • The name Chiemi is written in kanji/hiragana (ちえ美), which has no special meaning except the kanji "美" means "beautiful". However, when part of the name Chie (ちえ) is written in kanji (千枝, 千恵 or 千絵), it could possibly mean:
    • 千枝 - "thousand" (千) (chi) and "branch" (枝) (e).
    • 千恵 - "thousand" (千) (chi) and "favor, benefit" (恵) (e).
    • 千絵 - "thousand" (千) (chi) and "picture, painting" (絵) (e).
  • Chiemi's surname Tanaka means "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta) and "middle" (中) (naka), which literally means "dweller in the rice fields" altogether.

Trivia

  • She is from Shizuoka prefecture where Numazu, Aqours' hometown, is located. Because of it, she has sometimes expressed fondness to Aqours.[1]
  • She sometimes post her drawings on Twitter.[2]
  • She loves visiting theme parks.
  • She joined Stay-Luck on February 1, 2022 — the same agency as Yurika Kubo and Nanaka Suwa. She is formerly part of Sigma Seven since her voice acting debut.
