lily white is a sub-unit of μ's, consisting of Umi Sonoda, Rin Hoshizora, and Nozomi Tojo. They debuted in July 2011 with the single Shiranai Love*Oshiete Love. Their style is inspired by traditional Shōwa-period idols.

The members in each of the three μ's sub-units were chosen from five options in a poll from Dengeki G's Magazine.

Etymology

The name lily white was chosen by staff from fan submissions.[1] Other names that were submitted for the group include "Tennen Komachi" (天然小町, Natural Belle) and "Kachou Fuugetsu" (花鳥風月, Beauties of Nature).
