Maya Mikasa is one of the main characters in Love Live! School Idol Musical. She is a second year member of the Tsubaki Takizakura Girls' High School Idol Club. Her image colour is Peach Pink.[1]
Background
Her parents enrolled her in Tsubakisakuhana, a high school known for its strict academic program, along with several cram schools due to her struggles with studying. Despite these efforts, she still finds studying difficult and often ranks near the bottom in the school’s weekly test rankings.
Maya has been a fan of idols for a long time and has a lot of knowledge about them. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and designing idol-style clothes.
Personality
Maya is a bit of a klutz, she's generally not good at sports or studying, and she often stays up late, which makes her tired in the mornings and frequently late to school activities. This creates difficulties for her at such a study-focused, rigid school. She’s considered the mood maker of the group and occasionally says just the right thing at the right time.
She loves making jokes with her friends and often hides her true feelings behind humor. Maya also has a shy side, especially when it comes to being honest with herself and expressing what she truly loves.
Appearence
Maya's hair is a dark, desaturated pink that she ties into long, thin twitails. Her bright eyes are pink.
Etymology
- The name Maya (マーヤ) is written in katakana, therefore it has no set meaning.
- Maya's surname Mikasa means "three" (三)(Mi) and "conical hat" (笠) (Kasa).
Trivia
- Maya has the second-worst stamina and physical condition among the members, with Yuzuha Sumeragi ranking the lowest.
- She always draws in a chibi style, which may be a reference to the very first renders of the School Idol Musical characters. These initial designs used the "super deformed" (SD) style, characterized by oversized heads and eyes, smaller bodies, and simplified details.
