Sayaka Harukaze is one of the main characters in Love Live! School Idol Musical. She is a second year member of the Tsubaki Takizakura Girls' High School Idol Club. Her image colour is Rapeseed Yellow.[1]
Background
Sayaka is classmates with Anzu Takizawa and Rena Suzuka. In addition to training with her fellow club members, she also mentions having personal trainers for extra solo sessions.
Personality
Bright and positive, Sayaka highly values individuality and enjoys spending time alone, caring little about what others may think of her. She speaks her mind with honesty and frankness, even if it sometimes creates tension.
She aspires to take the center position in her club, currently held by Anzu Takizawa, with whom she shares a friendly rivalry. However, Sayaka struggles with waking up early and being on time.
Despite their differing approaches to club activities, she gets along well with Rena Suzuka, and they’re often seen spending time together.
Appearence
Sayaka has shoulder length, brown hair with light brown highlights that she ties into a high half bun. On her right side she has many bobby pins of different colors randomly put together on top of each other. Her eyes are a desaturated gold and her eyelids are slightly darker, her lower lip is slightly more pronounced.
Her uniform reflects her indivituality, being the member with the most customised uniform.
Etymology
- The name Sayaka (サヤカ) is written in katakana, therefore it has no set meaning. It can mean briliant, clear or fragrance.
- Sayaka's surname Harukaze means "sunny" (晴) (Haru) and "wind, breeze" (風) (Kaze).
Trivia
- She is one of the few characters whose bangs reveal the most of her forehead. Other examples include Rurino Osawa and Yukino Hojo.
- Sayaka shares her name with Sayaka Murano from Hasunosora Girls' High School Idol Club, making her the first main character in the franchise to share her name with another main character.
- It is written differently in Japanese, however. While Hasunosora's Sayaka is さやか, Takizakura's Sayaka is サヤカ.
