Shiki Wakana is a main character in Love Live! Superstar!!. She is a third-year student at Yuigaoka Girls' High School. She is both a second-generation member of Liella! and a member of the sub-unit 5yncri5e!. She is also a member of the special sub-unit AiScReam. Her image color is ice green white.

Background

Being one of the school's only science club members, Shiki can usually be found spending her free time in the science club room inventing strange gadgets, one of which being a pair of robotic roller skates. Shiki grew up as a loner until meeting Mei in middle school, and the two have stuck together since becoming friends.

She becomes the vice president of the School Idol Club, at Mei's request.

Personality

Shiki is a stoic girl who has difficulty expressing herself. She isn't very fond of loud places. Her favorite things are Mei, stag beetles and butterflies. She appears to have a calm demeanor and is quiet most of the time. She also does not smile much, but the reason why is yet to be determined. She is also very conscious of her surroundings, as she easily noticed Mei looking at her from the Science Club room while she is with the other Liella! members at the rooftop.

At her core, Shiki is a kind and well meaning girl who does her best to support her best friend; initially becoming a member of the school idol club on a trial period in an attempt to bait Mei into joining. Eventually, she officially joins the group in order to spend more time with Mei and bond over their newly found shared interest. However, despite her gentle nature, Shiki can become noticeably jealous, clingy and possessive when Mei spends time with others, as well as remarking about Mei's looks almost every chance she gets.

She has a strange unexplained habit of blurting out English sentences at random occasions.

Shiki prefers to stay in the shade, as the light is too bright for her. She has a habit of fainting when placed in situations that are too much for her.

Appearance

Shiki has a slim and shapely figure with short blue hair, reddish-brown eyes and a full lower lip. She tucks her hair behind her left ear, where she wears a small red earring.

Clubs and Hobbies

Shiki is in the Science Club together with Mei. Her known hobbies are making gadgets, conducting science experiments, keeping insects as pets, and appears to also like stalking people as with Kinako in Season 2, Episode 2, Mei in Episode 4, and Natsumi in Episode 6. As a middle-schooler, she also liked reading books.

Her gadgets shown so far include goggles although its purpose remains unknown, a pair of powered roller shoes that helps her walk faster effortlessly such as while following Kinako, a metal leg brace that allows her to run faster and push Kinako into the rooftop, and a number of mobile apps that allow her to monitor the rooftop as part of her earlier science experiments. The leg brace mechanism was later expanded to include an additional piece for the other leg, a metal belt and a pair of elbow pads as shown in Episode 6. The entire gadget is also operated through her phone.

Etymology

The name Shiki means "four seasons" (四季).
Shiki's surname Wakana means "young, immature" (若) (waka) and "vegetables, greens" (菜) (na).

Trivia

Shiki fulfills the cool attribute of the Liella! second years.
Shiki's favorite flavor of ice cream is cookies and cream.
