Yukino Hojo is one of the main characters in Love Live! School Idol Musical. She is a first year member of the Tsubaki Takizakura Girls' High School Idol Club. Her image colour is Orange.[1]
Background
Yukino met Rurika when she was in elementary school. After Rurika comforted her when her father didn’t eat the chocolates she made for him, Yukino has followed her ever since, improving her cooking skills along the way.
She has the highest academic performance in her grade and used to practice ballet when she was younger, which now helps her with her idol activities.
Personality
Yukino has a laid-back personality. She isn't good with confrontation and doesn't have a competitive nature, but she hopes to be helpful to others one day,especially to Rurika.
Despite her elegant appearance, Yukino can be quite excitable and energetic around her upperclassmen. She’s especially attached to Rurika and is rarely seen with other girls from her grade, choosing instead to spend time with Rurika and her 2nd year friends.
Appearence
Yukino has long, wavy black hair with bangs that she parts in the middle and separates from the rest of the hair with a big white headband. Her calm eyes are bright blue.
Etymology
- The name Yukino (ユキノ) is written in katakana, therefore it has no set meaning. Her name may mean "Snow" (雪) (Yuki) and "Field, meadow" (野) (No).
- Yukino's surname Hojo means "North" (北) (Ho) and "Line, stripe, string" (条) (Jo).
Trivia
- She claims to be both part of the School Idol Club at her school and president of Rurika's fanclub.
- Yukino is one of the few characters whose bangs reveal the most of her forehead. Other examples include Rurino Osawa and Sayaka Harukaze.
- Her appearence was most likely modeled after her stage actress Julia An, sharing Julia's characteristic bangs that she always has in her idol group outside of Love Live!.
- Yukino's image color may appear to be the same as Honoka Kosaka, both being "orange". Yukino's color, however, is written as 橙色 (Daidaiiro) while Honoka's is オレンジ (Orenji).
- Daidaiiro is rarely used nowadays in Japan, generally opting to use Orenji instead.
- Before the merge with Takizakura Girl's High School, Yukino was the only 1st year member of the idol club.
