Keke Tang is a main character in Love Live! Superstar!!. She was a third-year student at Yuigaoka Girls' High School until she graduated in the anime's series finale. She is the founder and a first-generation member of Liella! and a member of the sub-unit KALEIDOSCORE. Her image color is pastel blue.[1]
Background
Keke has a love for school idols after being inspired by Sunny Passion, which led her to make the move to Yuigaoka from Shanghai. Keke vows to work hard to become a school idol while living in Japan by herself, a country that also happens to be her mother's homeland. Her keen sense of style and fashion makes her an invaluable asset to girls like Kanon, whose wardrobe may occasionally be in need of someone with a more discerning eye. Seemingly the least fit member of the five, Keke would prefer to do almost anything in school besides gym class.
Personality
A fun-loving and energetic optimist, Keke holds that the most important things in life are passion and a smiling face. To her, anything is possible if one never gives up, such as being a school idol. When dealing with tense or stressful situations, Keke often recalls the pithy advice her mother once gave: if her emotions were to ever run hot, it is best to "cool down" with sweets. Her mother's words being the likely inspiration for her sweet tooth, Keke believes that a scoop of ice cream can do more to wash away grouchy feelings than anything else, and could even bring about reconciliation among bickering friends.
Her favorite saying is, "There is no time like the present."

Etymology
- The name Keke means "Possible" (可) (ke) and is derived from the Chinese loan word for "Cocoa"(可可)(Keke)
- Keke's surname Tang (唐) is similarly derived from Chinese, literally referring to the Tang Dynasty, and occasionally to foreign countries as a whole.

- Keke fulfills the pure attribute of the Liella! third years.
- Keke is the first main character to be of Chinese descent, originating from Shanghai.
- Overall, the second character since Ranpha to be of Chinese descent, the third Chinese character being Lanzhu Zhong.
- In tune to clothing trends, she is particularly attracted to the fashion scene in both Shibuya and Harajuku.
- Having passed the JLPT N1 exam while in China, Keke often uses her acquired Japanese with great vigor and pep. She speaks with a noticeable accent, which is emphasized in written media by having certain Japanese words in her speech replaced with katakana text.
- She has a love for sweets, such as egg tart.
- Her birthday was originally July 7 before her current profile changed it to July 17.
- According to the official statement, the birthday was set to July 7 because July 7 was the day when Shanghai was set as a special city back in 1927. However, July 7 was also the day when the Second Sino-Japanese War broke out in full swing ten years after in 1937. After the announcement of Character design, this point caused controversy among Chinese fans. Maybe in order to prevent negative effects, the birthday was changed to July 17 ten days later.
- The third episode of the anime reveals that Keke has an older sister. Episode 5 of Season 3 marked her first appearance, as well as revealing her name to be Mengmeng Tang.
- Keke performed a Kotori-style photobomb in episode 9 of the anime.
