Etymology

R3BIRTH combines the English word "rebirth" and the number of members. The name represents the members rediscovering what it means to be an idol and being "reborn".

The unit's name was chosen by staff from fan submissions. The winning submission, R3BIRTH, was submitted by YouTuber and streamer RinTaichou.
