Yohane the Parhelion -NUMAZU in the MIRAGE- (幻日のヨハネ -NUMAZU in the MIRAGE- Genjitsu no Yohane -NUMAZU in the MIRAGE-) is a 2024 roguelike deckbuilder game. It was developed and published by BeXide Inc. and based on the Yohane the Parhelion anime series. The game was released worldwide on February 22, 2024 for Steam (PC) and Nintendo Switch. DLC packs containing new music, costumes and playable characters released between March 28th to November 28th, 2024.

Summary

The official title of the game is Yohane the Parhelion -NUMAZU in the MIRAGE-.

This is the second game adaptation following Yohane the Parhelion -BLAZE in the DEEPBLUE-.

The official genre is an "anime-style roguelite," featuring turn-based card battles set in the mirrored world of "Ura-Numazu." The ultimate goal is to defeat all "Night Wicked" enemies and then take down the final boss, "Mirror."

The game is developed by BeXide, known for working on the Doko Demo Issyo series (except for the original).

The common abbreviation for the game is 「ヨハヌマ」.

Originally, the game was released simultaneously on three platforms, but due to high demand, a PS4 version was later decided and released as a digital-only download.

On August 28, 2024, the iOS and Android versions were launched. Most DLCs are available, except for a few. Additionally, the iOS version features an option to set background music in the game using songs downloaded from Apple Music or iTunes.

Story

Another story of Yohane begins in the “Mirror World”

Yohane, who spends her days with her friends while working as a fortune teller in Numazu, by chance comes into possession of an old mirror.

Yohane, worried that her fortune-telling is not accurate, tries “Magic Mirror Fortune-Telling” using a mirror, but suddenly gets sucked into the mirror that begins to shine.

What was inside the mirror was a “Reverse Numazu” that was the exact opposite of the real Numazu! Moreover, it was a mysterious world where magic could be used with the power of cards.

Yohane: “Woohoo! Yay! I can finally debut as a wizard, just like I wished! The Great Wizard Yohane has arrived!”

At the same time, strange things befall the friends in the real world one after another. Yohane rushes through the Reverse Numazu to save her friends. What awaits Yohane…?

? ? ? “Numazu’s most famous and adorable baker! International treasure Hanamaru, zura!”

Yohane: “…You’re not really Hanamaru, are you?”

Worlds of the mirror that changes its appearance every time you enter.

At the end of countless choices, what future will Yohane choose?

Yohane’s new story begins in another Numazu!

World & Setting

General Setting

  • Character designs and settings are based on the anime version.
  • The story is completely original, meaning prior knowledge of the anime isn’t necessary to enjoy the game.

Ura-Numazu (Reverse Numazu)

  • The main stage of the game—a mirrored world version of Numazu.
  • While similar to the real Numazu, this world allows the use of magic through cards.
  • Yohane is the only inhabitant who enters the mirror world, but it's filled with wandering monsters.

Game System

Card Battle

  • The battle system incorporates turn-based RPG mechanics with card game elements.
  • Players can attack enemies, set up shields, and use various strategic effects.
  • The game uses the Arterios Formula (Attack - Defense = Damage), meaning:
    • Damage reduces HP by its numerical value.
    • Shields absorb damage, preventing HP loss.
    • If the shield value exceeds the enemy's attack power, no damage is taken.

Cards

  • All card illustrations are original to this game, though it includes references to Love Live! Sunshine!!.

Summon Cards

  • These summon allies and are limited to three per deck.
  • Unlike magic cards, they remain visible in the hand until used.

Magic Cards

  • Blue cards provide shields, card swaps, and other effects.
  • Red cards deal damage.
  • Each magic card requires a cost to activate.

Card Cost & Energy

  • Cards require Energy to use.
  • The base Energy starts at 3 but can be increased through magic effects.
  • Cards without a cost cannot be played.

Charms

  • Special items granting passive buffs when owned.
  • Sub-effects provide randomly assigned boosts.

Deck System

  • Starting Deck: 12 cards (excluding summon cards).
  • If all cards are used, discarded cards are reshuffled, preventing game over.
  • No deck size limit exists, but larger decks make drawing specific cards harder.

Discard Pile

  • Unused cards or spent ones are sent here.
  • When the deck is empty, random cards from the discard pile are reshuffled into play.

Hand Management

  • Players start with 5 drawn cards per turn.
  • Unused cards are discarded at the end of each turn, meaning they cannot be saved for later.

Fade Mechanic

  • Cards marked as Fade disappear permanently during the battle once used.

Twilight Mechanic

  • If a Twilight card remains in hand at turn's end, it moves to Fade instead of being discarded.

Costumes

  • Costumes not only change character appearances but also alter starting cards and charms.

Gameplay

Map System

  • The map consists of nodes connected by lines, where clearing one node allows movement to the next.
  • Progression is strictly one-way from left to right—players cannot return to a previous node.
  • Some paths offer branches, but regardless of the chosen route, the number of nodes from start to boss remains the same.

Node Types

  • Boss Battle – Fight a field boss; defeating it clears the map.
  • Elite Battle – A tougher enemy encounter compared to standard battles.
  • Battle – A regular fight against enemies.
  • Event – Interactions with other characters, offering choices that grant items or buffs—but the wrong choice may trigger negative effects. Some choices do nothing at all.
  • Shop – Players can spend coins to purchase cards or charms, or trade unwanted cards.
    • Only current coin balance upon entering the shop can be used, so spending wisely is key.
    • Hanamaru Easter Egg: If playing as Hanamaru, the shopkeepers change to Yohane & Lailaps instead of the usual attendant!
  • Rest Stop – Choose either HP recovery (Rest) or Card Upgrade (Improve a card).
  • Treasure – Open a chest to receive random items, with the quality varying based on the chest grade.

Night Wicked

  • The source of the illness affecting the members, serving as a formidable mid-boss waiting at the farthest point of the map.
  • While each Night Wicked has a distinct appearance, even Yohane herself is included among them.

Demo Version

  • Available since December 21, 2023, on Nintendo Switch, allowing players to experience the prologue.
  • Released on January 15, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and Steam as well.
  • Save data from the demo cannot be carried over to the full version.
